Dr. JOHN Hutchens
Dr. Hutchens grew up in Perry, just a few miles from where Hands of Hope Animal Hospital is located! He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 2009, and has been caring for the pets and their families in the Middle Georgia community ever since!
Dr. Hutchens is focused on providing high quality medicine, superior patient care, and an experience that emphasizes the relationship between the client and their pet, all within a fear free environment. His goal is to create an engaging atmosphere of client education and support that goes above and beyond the typical veterinary visit.
Over the years, Dr. Hutchens has developed a particular interest in veterinary dermatology, largely due to the remarkable successes he’s observed in his patients. Many of these cases have been published and shared with his colleagues all over the world!
It is his desire to build on these successes and become a resource for healing and relief to many more patients in the future!

Initially launched in 2018, Human Animal Bond Certified is a certification course for practicing veterinarians and others as the one-and-only certification for animal health professionals looking to engage with their clients through the communication and the science of the human-animal bond. The institute's main goal is to make their research accessible to the public and improve the overall quality of life for owners and pets.

The goal of Stem Cell therapy is to reduce pain & inflammation, restore range of motion & quality of life while regenerating tendon, ligament and join tissue. Veterinarians certified through VetStem are recommended through our portal and provide stem cell services through the processes and procedures outlined by VetStem.

Microchipping

As a pediatrician, we have been blessed to take care of lots of kids, and even John and Lauren’s 4! However, our hairy children are another matter entirely.
I totally lack the at-ease demeanor when it comes to our “girls” Sunshine and Copper. If they start acting sickly or “off,” John’s there to help calm our nerves, either talking us down after Copper eats another of our socks, or stepping in when needed. With our pug Sunshine, she had heart failure that he quickly diagnosed, helped alleviate the pressure, and ultimately got her well enough to live a full rest of her “spunky” life with us. Our last dog, Sunny, lived a great life, despite eating grass, counter surfing who knows what for 12 1/2 years. As her life came to an end, John walked that road with us, praying with us and comforting us through tears too.
We are thankful to walk the journey of both dog life and kid life together with the Hutchens, and are excited about their next chapter that is just blossoming of their own practice.
